An Ex police identified as Joseph Kariuki Ruoro who previously served in the General Service Unit is in custody after he was arrested in Gilgil over 9 incidents of Robbery with Violence linked to him.
According to a statement from the directorate of criminal investigation the guard was unable to live up to the oath of office for police officers.
Ruoro’s first attracted police attention during a bank robbery in Matuu in July 2021, its said that his gang of five robbed the bank & disappeared with two AK47 rifles disarmed from officers manning it.
‘’A series of stealth operations had been conducted to neutralize the gang and its affiliated groups, in the course of which one of the rifles was recovered and several arrests made ‘’read a statement from DCI.

The incidence prompted Dci’s effort to sanitize the streets of gangsters ,hunting for guns in the wrong hands, where a 2nd AK47 rifle was recovered at Takaungu area in Kilifi County yesterday, in an operation that extended to Gilgil where Ruoro was cornered and arrested.
”Preliminary investigations have so far linked him to 9 robbery incidents reported in Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Machakos counties. The suspect is being processed for arraignment with detectives advancing their investigations to nab more accomplices.’ further read the statement
