Former Machachari actor Ian Nene alias Almasi has opened up on how growing up in an abusive environment affected his view on manliness.
While speaking on the Man Talk 254 podcast Almasi reveals that after his biological dad left them, life took a negative turn in the hands of his stepfather who used to abuse his mother.
“My stepfather was a little bit abusive Well not to me but more so to my mom and I would observe it and my uncles obviously were like drenched in intoxication and just in this bad world.”
Almasi expresses that not having a good example of a male figure in his life greatly affected the view he had on masculine energy even in his youth.
“So I didn’t have a good example of men in my life My Biological father he had left my life when I was young and he didn’t really make an active effort to connect to me and my youth so I just I always had like a bad sting in my mouth every time I was thinking about masculine energy.”

Currently, Almasi is glad to be in a space where men get to express their emotions without being judged for being ‘weak’.
To him, the greatest experience was finding a space where happy, vulnerable, emotional men who are not afraid to open their hearts exist.
Men who are not afraid to say how they feel who are confident in who they are who are confident in their emotions even in sadness.
“So I was like wow I’ve never experienced this before Because with my awareness of masculine energy was that you put up a front.”
“Now I’m in this space you’re getting all these examples of men who are mature and are confident within themselves who can cry who are emotional so I thought you know what I’d rather make this jump and see what it is.”
