A Nairobi court has allowed detention of National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)official linked to Embakasi gas explosion.
Senior Principal Magistrate Marthar Nazushi directed Isaac Kipchirchir Kimetei to be detained as police concludes investigations.
Isaac Kipchirchir Kimetei allegedly abdicated his duty as an official of NEMA leading to the February 1st 2024 Explosion that has so far claimed 10 lives and properties of unknown value.
Investigators averred that Kimetei was directly involved or is having information that could aid ongoing investigations.

They further submitted that the respondent was unreachable at the preliminary stage of investigations since he has been on the run.
They subsequently objected to respondent’s lawyer application to have him released.
The magistrate ruled that the prosecution nailed a substantive grounds to have Kimetei grilled.
If the allegations are approved by the DPP, Kimetei will be charged with muder, conspiracy to commit felony,abuse of office and neglect act causing harm.
