Kenyan actress Mbeki Mwalimu will be taking over the role of Nana Tandala in the local TV drama series, Kina and here are some of the things you need to know about her.
- She is a producer and director with over 10 years of theater and TV experience.
- Mbeki began her career in Kenya’s theater scene back in 2004.
- She has featured in films such as the Swahili telenovela Selina whose final episode was aired on Friday 8th April 2022 on Maisha Magic East.
- Among her most notable work is her role as Wendy on the film Sincerely Daisy which is produced by Kenyan actor Nick Mutuma. Sincerely Daisy was initially released on Netflix on 9th October 2020.
- Mbeki started a professional theater performance organization dubbed Back To Basics Kenya with an aim of bringing the stage back to life.
- She won the best theater director award in 2018 at the Sanaa Awards.
- Mbeki worked at Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) as a presenter and hosted Good Morning Kenya.
- Mbeki Mwalimu founded The Mbeki Mwalimu Initiative with the aim of making a difference in the lives of needy children by providing basic supplies, education and mentorship.
Maisha Magic Plus announced Mbeki Mwalimu as Sanaipei Tande’s replacement on the film Kina in a statement released on February 15th.

“Sanaipei Tande, best known for her role as Nana on Maisha Magic Plus’s top telenovela-Kina will be replaced by Mbeki Mwalimu effective 17th February 2023.” Reads part of the statement.
The actress also took to her social media pages to share the news in a post captioned, “Happy New Depth!Depth in creative expression!Depth on purpose!Depth on screen!
That’s the cherry to my cake and it’s an absolute pleasure to share a slice of it as I take on the role of Nana Tandala, which has been brilliantly portrayed by @sanaipei.tande on whose shoulders I humbly stand.”
