Police have seized what they suspect is fake gold that was discovered in a safe box at Barclays Bank.
Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti said that the gold was found in a small box late Wednesday.
Kinoti said that the fake gold weighing 60 kilograms will be subjected to further tests on Thursday.
The fake gold was discovered during an ongoing investigation into the fake ksh.2 Billion that was found at Barclays bank Queensway branch on Mama Ngina Street.
The fake Gold was discovered after the Bank discovered a safety box registered to one of the suspects and handed over the box to the DCI.
“Following an internal review of our records concluded late Tuesday night, we identified another safe deposit box registered in the name of the same customer. We immediately reported it and subsequently handed over the box to the DCI. This is in keeping with our zero-tolerance approach to all forms of criminal activity and our commitment to assist with the investigation,” said a statement from the Bank
