Families affected in fuel tanker tragedy to get Ksh. 50,000 compensation

The government has promised to give Ksh. 50,000 to each family affected in the oil tanker explosion on Saturday.

Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo has however urged the government to give more money to the victims.

Odhiambo has also stated that a pathologist will be availed to help identify the bodies that were burnt beyond recognition.

This happens even as the death toll of the incident reached 15 from Sunday’s 13.

The 15 were killed after the tanker exploded when they were siphoning fuel from the tanker.

One family in Malanga lost two members in explosion that happened at around 10:45 PM.

“My co- wife and my nephew were also at that place siphoning the fuel but after a short while we heard a burst and from there we cannot trace their whereabouts,” said Margaret Wambo a resident of Malanga Village

Another family looking for missing daughter Sharon Omondi as they say that they don’t know her whereabouts.
