Families Displaced After Floods Rock Ruaraka

floods slumMore than 180 families have been  displaced by floods in Kwa Sabuni Estate after River Mathare broke its banks last night.

Structures built next the river were filled with water overnight forcing rescuers to rescue victims through rooftops and windows.

The floods are said to have been triggered by heavy downpour  in Kiambu county.

They have now blamed the county government and area leadership for not heeding to their calls earlier this month, when they requested for expansion of the banks around Kwa Sabuni and Kariadudu estates.

Meanwhile people living in the area have been urged to move to safer grounds to avoid further troubles.
