FIFA has with immediate effect lifted the ban on Football Kenya Federation which it imposed last year.
A letter by FIFA says that this follows the confirmation from FKF CEO Barry Otieno that the new Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba had had reinstated the FKF executive committee.
The letter signed by Fatma Samoura also stated that FKF Secretary General had also confirmed that the federation’s offices had been handed over to him.
Otieno had on November 4th this year written to FIFA with regards to the new developments on FKF. The matter was then taken up by Bureau of the FIFA Council which made the decision to lift the ban.
“In view of these circumstances, the Bureau Council decided on 25th November 2022 to lift the suspension of the FKF with immediate effect,” reads the letter.
“Upon lifting of the suspension, FIFA-CAF mission will be deployed to Nairobi in order to define the next steps for the FKF and to also meet the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Sports.”
FIFA has further cautioned that the new developments will not affect the ongoing investigations and court proceedings.
