Fire burnt down two dormitories in two secondary schools last night.
The two schools whose dormitories burnt down were Um Salahlah Secondary School in Kombewa area and Masogo Secondary School in Nyando Sub County.
The fire at Um Salahlah Secondary School is reported to have burnt down the dormitories hosting a huge number of students.
The school’s board member Sheik Ali confirmed that the fire had started at around 11.30 am on Monday 8th, 2021 when the students were in class.
“The fire has been contained well. It started when students were in class and no life was lost in the process. The cause of the fire is yet to be established as investigation are on ,” he said.
No life was lost in the process and the school has also not been closed after the incident.
“We are making alternative arrangements for normal operations to resume to
enable the students to continue with their studies,” he added.
Meanwhile another dormitory at Masogo secondary school Nyando in Kisumu county was razed down in a separate fire incident.
Masogo Deputy Principal Mr. Onyango confirmed to Ghetto Radio News that the fire had started at around 7.30pm on Monday night when the students were in class for preps.
“The fire has been contained though nothing was salvaged. The ministry of education both at the county and sub county level are in school carrying out their investigations to establish the cause of the fire,” Onyango said.
