Fire razes down stalls in Gikomba

Property worth hundreds of thousand have been burnt down in a fire incident reported at Gikomba Market.

The fire reportedly started at 2.30 am in one of the shoe stores.

Traders who spoke to Ghetto Radio News say the fire then quickly spread to other stalls near Family Bank area.

‘‘Mimi nilipigiwa simu saa nane usiku nikaambiwa Gikomba inachomeka kukuja nikapata moto tayari imeshika vibanda na store yetu lakini wazima moto walikuja baada ya one hour wakatusadia kuzima moto[I was called and informed that Gikomba was on fire around 2pm  I rushed  and found stalls and even our store already in blazes but we ere helped by fire fighters to put the fire off]’’ One of the trader narrated.

Nairobi city county fire brigade,G4S and Kenya Redcross Society were the first to respond to the incident.

The fire was later contained after an hour with joint forces from the team  with the help of Kenya defence forces.

Traders are now counting massive  losses with cause of the fire still unknown as investigations continues .
