First Batch Of Ballot Papers Has Arrived In The Country

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced that the first batch of ballot papers has arrived in the country.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati says that the ballot papers arrived today morning through the Jommo Kenyatta International Airport.

“We are receiving the first batch of ballot papers as they are arriving in the country through the airport,” said Chebukati.

Speaking at a media briefing Chebukati dispelled fears that there are illegal ballot papers in the country from Uganda.

“There are no ballot papers from Uganda or anywhere else so don’t accept individuals to lie to you. All ballot papers are serialized,” said Chebukati.

The IEBC Chair stated that they have printed ballot papers according to the number of registered voters which is 22 Million for each electoral seat.

Chebukati’s sentiments come amidst claims from Azimio that some Kenya Kwanza officials were making deals with the company that had been awarded the printing tender.

According to Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Kenya Kwanza Principal Moses Wetangula had met the proprietors of the printing firm only for IEBC to award them tenders.
