Five kidney patients will receive free treatment at Mbagathi hospital after the hospital received Kidney transplant machines from Nairobi’s governor yesterday.
Addressing the media governor Mike Sonko said kidney diseases are a major cause of mortality globally and that is why the county has put efforts to equip county hospitals.
He added that equipping county hospitals with kidney transplant machines will reduce pressure at Kenyatta hospital which was the only one with the facilities.
Governor Sonko has said the county will also equip Mama Lucy hospital with the machines so as to ease access of kidney treatment.
He has urged Kenyans to use the facilities now available in the country instead of seeking treatment abroad.
