FKF Appoints New Coach For World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign
Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa Unveiled Engin Firat as the Coach of the national team Harambe Stars.
The Turkish German who takes over from Jacob “Ghost” Mulei will guide the team for the four remaining World Cup Qualifiers matches has signed a two month deal.
Mulei took over from Wazito’s Coach Francis Kimanzi on a three year deal and his main objective was to guide the Stars to the World Cup.
The Former Tusker Coach has managed 8 matches, 4 of which were Afcon 2020 Qualifiers, 2WQR and 2 international friendly matches,
Out of the 8 fixtures he won 3(2 friendly matches and one dead rubber) drew 4 and lost one Coach Firat’s first assignment will be the upcoming 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Mali, away and home, on October 8, and October 12, respectively.
Kenya played out to a barren draw against Uganda on September 2 and drew 1-1 against Rwanda on September 5 in their first two matches of Group “E”.
Stars play Mali in back to back World Cup qualifiers on October 6 and October 12.
51 year old Firat resigned from the Moldova national team early this year after two years at the top.
He was in charge of 11 matches, losing nine and drawing two.
Among the high profile teams where the coach has served are Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt between 2000-2002 and Turkish giants Fenerbahce where he was assistant coach between 2002-2003.
