The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee has imposed sanctions on FKF Premier League clubs AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia for failure to honor the FKF-Premier League match no. 260, pitting the two sides, that had been scheduled to be played on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Thika Stadium.
Both clubs have been deducted three points, in line with article 3.1.6 of the Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football.
In a joint communication signed by Leopards Chair Man Dan Shikanda and Ambrose Rachier who represented K’Ogalo they claimed they are owed by FKF and as a result, will not honour the fixture.
They stated that they have not been paid sponsorship grants as well as the FKF Shield Cup cash prize totalling Ksh 3 million.
Further, AFC Leopards being the home team has been fined KES 6 Million, while Gor Mahia, the away team, fined KES 4 million, being match organizational costs incurred by FKF.
In case there is a re-occurrence of the same, further sanctions shall be imposed against the two clubs, in line with the Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football.
In the meantime, the FKF National Executive Committee has provisionally suspended Gor Mahia and AFC Leopard’s chairmen Mr. Ambrose Rachier and Dan Shikanda, pending disciplinary action constituted against them. The FKF Disciplinary Committee shall recommend sanctions (if any) against the two for adoption by the NEC.
