Football Kenya Federation have secured a deal with Mafro Sports that will see the world’s company design and develop football kits for the men’s and women’s Kenyan national football teams.
The three year parnership will see Mafro sports provide 600 pieces of each of the kits to all categories of the national football teams from U-13, U-17, U-20, U-23 and the senior teams in a sponsorship worth Ksh75M.
While announcing the agreement Mafro Sports Managing Director Mr Mahmoud Gondha said that Kenya is a big brand and that it is worth the sponsorship.
“I am delighted and feel proud that we are doing something for Kenya because Kenya is a big brand”.
The home kit is red away kit is white while the neutral kit is green.FKF President Nick Mwendwa announced that the kits will be available from June 1 this year.
While expressing his delightment Mwendwa stated that the fedaration has landed a significant step backed by good negotiations. He revealed that Mafro is expected to provide kits for a tune of Sh 57M while the teams will be paid Sh 15M for wearing the kits.
“We are glad that Mafro sports came at a time when we needed the deal”.
He added that plans to rebrand the National teams is underway.
“We will be rebranding the national teams in the next one year. It’s an effort that will take a while and we are not just looking at the kits but overall branding”.
At the same time Mwendwa urged the government to uniformity, in terms of colours in all sports.
Mafro also kits the Zimbabwe and the Zambia national teams. They are also the kit providers for Nkana FC and Power Dynamos in the Zambian Super League (ZSL)
