Former Extreme Sports Chief Executive Officer Hussein Mohammed has been cleared to attend the upcoming FKF Special General Meeting (SGM) scheduled for this Saturday.
Hussein, who is representing Murang’a Seal, will join his team in deliberating on critical issues affecting the federation, including the much-anticipated elections.
Initially, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) had rejected a request from Murang’a Seal to have Hussein as their representative at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March, which was later canceled due to a court order. However, in a letter addressed to the Murang’a Seal chairman on August 19, FKF CEO Barry Otieno confirmed that Hussein is now eligible to represent Murang’a Seal as the club’s Vice President.
The FKF statement acknowledged that Hussein was duly registered as a member of Murang’a Seal FC with the federation on July 25, 2024, via the Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP). According to Article 23(2) of the FKF Constitution 2017, delegates must belong to the member club they represent and be appointed or elected by the appropriate body or club, which Hussein now fulfills.
Hussein was previously barred from attending the March AGM, which was halted by a Mombasa Court following a lawsuit filed by sports journalist Milton Nyakundi challenging the legitimacy of FKF’s top officials.
The Nairobi High Court upheld the decision to halt the AGM last month, postponing it until October. The AGM was expected to address significant issues, including the federation’s elections.
