A family in Mlango Kubwa is seeking justice after their son was shot dead by police officers on Friday last week.
The 17 year old form one student in Murang’a was allegedly shot dead by police officers attached to the Pangani Police Station.
Jane Njoki an aunt to the boy says that she found the boy shot dead in the house and that he breathed his last in her hands.
According to Njoki, police officers claim that the boy was a criminal, allegations she has denied.
“It was around 9 am when I got into the house and found my sister’s son shot dead. Police officers then started lobbying teargas at us to keep us off the body,” said Jane Njoki, the boy’s aunt.
“I have never seen the boy steal, he was very determined with his education and had talked to me about going back to school on Monday,” said Njoki.
The incident sparked demonstrations in the area with the family members camping at the Pangani Police Station demanding an answer from the officers.
Police are yet to respond to the allegations.
