Former Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi has been arrested in Nyahururu town, Laikipia County.

Muriithi who was participating in the Saba Saba protests in Nyahururu town is reportedly being held at the Nyahururu Police Station.

Commotion ensued before Muriithi’s arrest as he questioned the decision by the police to arrest him.

“The question you are not answering as a police officer, what law have we broken by bein here? What law have we broken by being here?” asked Muriithi.

The police however would not hear any of it and instead told him that they will explain his arrest at the police station.

“The impunity and lawlessness on display by @NPS_KE is clearly in defiance of the constitution and rule of law,” lawyer Maria Mbeneka tweeted.

He was arrested alongside Jubilee politician Carolyne Mwendia for allegedly taking part in illegal protests.
