Former Machakos Senator Muthama has been arrested and a poling station closed after chaos erupted at a Msambweni polling station in the mini polls that are currently underway.

Muthama was briefly held by police officers at the Jomo Kenyatta Primary School polling station then transferred to KPA polling stations in Mombasa.

The polling station was then closed after a section of voters started chanting anti Joho and anti government songs.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has accused police officers of trying to delay vote counting in some two polling stations with the aim of rigging results.

“We know what they have planned in those two police stations but we will not let them do it,” said Sudi.

Speaking during a media briefing Sudi also accused the police of frustrating them while Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his ODM counterparts were left to roam freely.

“We have been blocked from walking into stations, but Joho is walking in stations with his team and no one is stopping him. We know he is also walking with weapons,” said Sudi.
