Former Moi University Student Leader Wins Jubilee Ticket For Kericho By Election
Former Moi University Student leader Aaron Cheruiyot will fly the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) flag in the Kericho Senate by-election slated for March 7, after he emerged victorious in the party’s nominations held yesterday.
Cheruiyot who is in his early 30s garnered 17,565 votes to secure the ticket ahead of seasoned politicians Sammy Chepkwony with 17,081 votes, former Roads Minister Franklin Bett who came in third with 16,914 votes while former ODM Executive Director and former Kipkelion MP Margerer Langat who had 14,059 votes.
The JAP candidate will now face off with former Cabinet Minister and Bureti MP Paul Sang who is being fronted jointly by KANU and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto’s Mashinani Development Party of Kenya (MDPK).
Raila Odinga’s ODM also declared it would support the candidate fronted by the parties which have some political base in the North Rift.
