Former Nairobi Mayor To Be Elected Nairobi County Assembly Deputy Speaker
It is just now a matter of time for former Nairobi Mayor Geoffrey Odhiambo Majiwa to take Nairobi County Assembly seat following the resignation of Ruai MCA John Kamangu who was deputising Beatrice Elachi.
Jubilee Party and ODM Party had struck a deal to have Benson Mutura elected as a speaker unopposed as ODM was given the Deputy Speaker seat that was being held by a Jubilee MCA.
“After soul searching and consultation with Jubilee Party leadership I have decided as a believer of handshake to tender my resignation to this assembly,” Kamangu said in his letter to the house.
Majiwa who also doubles as Babadogo MCA now awaits his election on next week Tuesday after ODM wrote to the speaker proposing him for the position.
Former Makadara lawmaker Benson Mutura was last month elected new Speaker Nairobi County Assembly replacing Beatrice Elachi who resigned.
Mutura garnered 99 votes beating the other five candidates in the race who got zero votes.
