The disputed parking lot adjacent to the Supreme Court Building has now taken a new twist with Nairobi Deputy Speaker Paul Kados accusing former Director General Nairobi Metropolitan Services Mohammed Badi for allegedly issuing the same lot to the Supreme Court.
According to Kados they received a communication that Badi gave Supreme Court the go ahead to use the controversial parking.
“Badi did this after committing the same at a cabinet meeting with the president. His main problem was that he never consulted MCAs and carried himself around as a total man. So due to that confusion Supreme Court has continuously denied members access,” Kados said.
He revealed that the assembly had already earmarked the place developing Assembly chambers a plan that was underway.
“That place is the famous Masaai Marketing is … weekdays we use it for parking and weekend the County Government use it as a market… so I don’t know how Supreme Court comes in. We had already initiated a plan to develop our chambers there… It should also be known that parking lot was gazetted by Transition Authority as part of Nairobi County Assembly,” he added.
The MCAs are expected to hold demonstrations tomorrow at the Supreme Court Building.
