Gaspo, Nakuru Queens advance to FKF Women Premier League playoff semifinals

Gaspo outplayed Wadadia 5-0 in their FKF Women Premier League playoff match played on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Nakuru ASK Showgrounds.

Corazone Aquino almost netted the lead goal for Gaspo in the 10th minute however, missed the target by inches. Five minutes later, Elizabeth Wambui tried to convert for Gaspo through an awarded freekick, but the ball went wide.

In the 16th minute, Corazone Aquino came in with another attempt for goal that however, went over the bar, forcing Gaspo to wait a little bit longer for the lead goal.

Mercy Airo bagged the lead goal for Gaspo after she skilled past the Wadadia defense in the 18th minute. Her teammate Elizabeth Wambui converted an assist from Corazone Aquino, bagging Gaspo their second goal in the 35th minute.

In an attempt to equalize the scores, Wadadia made two attempts in quick succession through Ruth Chebungei and Carolyne Khaemba in the 42nd minute that missed the target.

Carolyne Khaemba tried once again to score for Wadadia but hit the ball right at Gaspo goalkeeper, Judith Osimbo. This closed the first half scores at 2-0.

After the intermission, Corazone Aquino scored the third goal for Gaspo in the 53rd minute. One minute later, Elizabeth Wambui found the back of the net for Gaspo bagging her brace.

In the 75th minute, Anne Anyangu attempted to pull one back for Wadadia but hit the crossbar. One minute to stoppage time, Elizabeth Wambui got her hat-trick after scoring the fifth goal for Gaspo, sealing the full-time scores at 5-0.

Nakuru Queens proceeded to the FKF Women Premier League playoff semifinals after beating Ulinzi Starlets 5-4 in post match penalties.

In the 10th minute, Rebecca Okwaro bagged the lead goal for Nakuru Queens. Lucy Mukhwana equalized for Ulinzi Starlets in the 25th minute.

Ulinzi Starlets got their second goal through Lucy Mukhwana in the 40th minute bagging her brace. In the 61st minute, Nakuru Queens equalized forcing the match into penalties.

Noela Indikuli scored the winning goal for Nakuru Queens in the post match penalties, leading to Nakuru Queens proceeding to the FKF Women Premier League playoff semifinals.

Gaspo, Nakuru Queens will now face off against Vihiga Queens, Thika Queens respectively in the playoff semifinals on Friday, June 25, 2021.
