45

Families in Gatundu, Kiambu County have resorted to giving children drugs in a bid to keep their children off hunger.

A section of the families interviewed by a local TV station say that they lack food to give their children hence resorting to alcohol and bhang.

“Our children are unable to go to school- because of hunger. We have resorted to giving them alcohol because we don’t have food,” said one local.

“Our shambas are empty we don’t have any food left to give our children,” said another local.

The residents are appealing to the government to move with speed and give us relief food to mitigate this drought.

“Well wishers have tried to give us donations but even that is not enough. We are in dire need of help,” said another local.
