A court in Kisumu on Tuesday charged a woman who allegedly attacked her neighbour’s househelp for hanging wet clothes on her balcony in Mamboleo, Kisumu County.
Grace Aketch appeared before the Winam Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Chrispine Oruo where she pleaded not guilty for causing bodily harm.
Grace who had served as Gender Based Violence at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital was arraigned for allegedly beating 25 -year-old Beryl Achieng on 24th October using a panga leaving some parts of her body with bruises.
Aketch was captured in a video while carrying out the heinous act to the middle aged complainant Beryl.
The accused was released on a cash bail of Ksh.10, 000 with an alternative bond of Ksh. 30,000.
The case is set to be heard on March 2, 2022.

This incident follows a case just within Mamboleo where a middle aged woman was nursing serious wounds after she was assaulted and burnt using hot cooking oil by her husband.
On that case, Aisha Adhiambo’s husband Silvanus Allegedly poured hot cooking oil on her that burnt her face and left arm.
The suspect was later arrested, arraigned and charged.
Since the onset of Covid-19, Gender Based Violence cases have been on the rise leaving many families broken and women and girls bruised.
