Former German Captain and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Khan has been appointed to the Fc Bayer Munich Executive Board.
After being unanimously appointed back in August, he signed a five-year contract that went into effect on January 1, 2020.
He will initially serve as a member of the board as he continues his complete refamiliarization with the club from the ground up, after which he will succeed Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as the Chairman and CEO when KHR’s contract expires on 31 December 2021.
The Karlsruhe native, now 50 years old, is one of the greatest goalkeepers of the game, amassing 23 trophies and plethora of individual awards that include a World Cup Golden Ball and three World’s Best Goalkeeper awards.
A true titan on the pitch who was known to strike fear in the hearts of his opponents, “King Kahn” went on to successfully pursue an MBA in General Management and also obtain a coaching license after his retirement from football.
Kahn has thrice won German Sports Journalists’ Award in 2015, 2017 and 2019 for his contributions as a pundit and a sports expert, demonstrating his brilliant football intellect.
Being one of the co-founders and the CEO of Goal play, a global company focusing on improving goalkeepers and goalkeeping coaches, Kahn has proven his acumen on the business side, too.
Possessing excellent vision for football, sharp business skills and the FC Bayern DNA, Der Titan is a tailor made fit to succeed KHR and continue the legacy of former players running the club, which gives the heart to maintain the close-knit family like nature of the club as well as the astute brains to ensure its continued success at the very top of World football.
