Did you know that Kenya’s Afro pop musician Katao is also a journalist? Well Ghetto Radio’s Entertainment Chit Chat host Stella Anyango had a sit down with the 23 year old is a short profile about her and her art.

Who is Katao Music

I’m a Kenyan Afro pop artist also a journalist and a content creator. I was also once an actress and I’m still having it in me but I have not yet featured in any film because I was just doing theatre arts.

I’ve just finished my Diploma level at Multi Media University in Nairobi and will be upgrading for degreeat the same institution.

Why Katao Music/How did you come up with the name

Katao comes from my names that is Catherine and Gitau.

Describe your music style

I do Afro pop, a Kenyan vibe of music or maybe urban hype type of music.

As a female artist how has the journey been like for you

I’ve been doing music for approximately 3 years now. The music has been having its ups and downs. At times it’s good othertimes it’s bad- sometimes it’s challenging and other times it’s fun to do.

Do you have any new projects in the works

I have new projects coming up. I have an EP album that is still on ground work. I’d like to work with so many Kenyan artists. There are many of them who I feel are talented like Otile Brown, Nviiri the Storyteller, Arrow Bwoy, Nadia Mukami and Jovial.

What’s the inspiration behind your latest song ‘Mashaka’

Mashaka means trouble. The song is dedicated to all the ladies to empower them and to make them feel nice about themselves. It is also a song that brings good vibes.

Generally I get inspiration for my songs from my day to day life and also from the art of creativity and poetry.

Word to your fans

I love them and let’s continue playing Katao Music and supporting my art.

Another song by Katao Music is Dangerous and can be found on her official You Tube channel Katao Music.
