A 16 year old girl in Mathare 4B in Nairobi constituency has been defiled by a man well known to the family and the whole community.
The man by the name Hajji is being accused of defiling the girl after she was sent by her guardian to collect payment for the food he ate.
The guardian by the name Eunice Auma told Ghetto Radio News that she had sent the girl to collect payment for the food the perpetrator had eaten at her hotel.
The girl took long to come back and this created worry to the guardian.
“The girl said that when I sent her to collect the cash, she didn’t find Hajji where I told her but she was taken where he was by Hajji’s sister. When Hajji came out with the cash the sister was gone, so he pulled the girl to the house and defiled her. She cried for help but no one came to her rescue,” narrated Auma.
Auma says that she tried to confront the accused but he fought back and attempted to choke her. She was however saved by well wishers who had witnessed the scene.
“He said he will kill me if I tried to shame his name and that of his family, this is after I refused to accept his apology,” added Eunice.
Shofco representatives took the girl to MSF hospital where numerous tests done one her confirmed that she had been defiled.
The matter was later reported at the Muthaiga Police station.
“A man has raped a child and we have not seen any action taken. The youths can’t talk because they will be on the wrong side and can even be thrown out of the estate,” Said Morhas Makolo.
“I want the man to be brought to justice so that he can be an example to others who defile children,” pleaded Auma.
The accused is on the run while the girl is being kept at a safe house by shofco.
According to the laws of Kenya, anyone accused of defilement is to be sentenced to life imprisonment.
