A section of Githurai and Ziwani residents are planning to hold a football tournament on Sunday in a bid to preach peace ahead of the 2022 General Elections.
The tournament which is being organized by the Githurai All Stars Team and the Ziwani Football Team through the support of Ghetto Radio’s Offside team is set to take place at the Githurai Grounds on Sunday.
Githurai All Stars Coach Fredrick Ochieng says that they hope bring different tribes together through the tournament and also preach peace.
“Football has always brought people together. You see people always drop their tribes and support the same team. We also hope to enable them embrace one another,” said coaches.
Ochieng also says that they have chosen the Githurai Grounds following its significance in politics.
“Githurai area has always experienced skirmishes in politics. Even politicians currently target Githurai due to the population and its significance in determining Nairobi politics. We hope to change this narrative,” he said.
The Sunday tournament will see Githurai All stars Team play with the Ziwani Football team.
Offside Show Host Polosa is also among the organizers.
They are appealing to wellwishers to also fund the tournament to enable them preach peace in other parts of the city.
