Bandari’s unbeaten home record came to a halt after losing 2-0 to Gor Mahia Mbaraki Sports Club on Thursday.
George Odhiambo’s strike and an own goal did it for Gor Mahia who also picked their second win in a row.
Gor Mahia started well with Khalid Aucho’s second minute free-kick missing the target by a few inches. Then Goddfrey Walusimbi was denied by Bandari custodian Wilson Obungu.
Gor Mahia were all over the place in the first 20 minutes and kept their opponents busy all through. But after that Bandari looked to be settling well as Anthony Kimani’s grass-cutter landed firmly into Boniface Oluoch’s waiting hands.
Gor Mahia finished the first half on a high after George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo nearly converted from a Walusimbi effort. After the interval, both teams came back strongly with Gor Mahia benching Ronald Omino and Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth for Francis Kahata and Ernest Wendo.
Bandari brought in Dan Sserunkuma and Victor Ndinya for George Abege and David King’atua. It was Gor Mahia, who settled first with George Odhiambo scoring the opener in the 53rd minute.
Sserunkuma’s inclusion was a threat to the Gor Mahia backline, who had to resort to police marking to deny him a chance to score.
Gor Mahia dominated the last ten minutes of the match with Agwanda, Walusimbi and Kahata terrorising Bandari’s defence. Confusion at the defence saw Felly Mulumba score an own goal at the stroke of full time when his back pass found Oburu on the wrong side.
