Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia defender Joash Onyango has been named the Most Valuable player by the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) for the year 2018/19 season, in awards ceremony staged at the National Museums of Kenya.
Joash who had an impressive season in the just concluded Kenya Premier League was also crowned as the best defender beating Sony Sugar player Kelvin Wesonga and Brian Otieno from Bandari to the award.
For being crowned as the MVP Joshua was awarded Kshs 1m, having beaten Ulinzi Stars forward Enosh Ochieng and his former team mate Francis Kahata.
Gor Mahia Coach Hassan Oktay was named as the best Coach while Tusker’s David Majak scooped the young player’s award.
In the other categories, Farouk Shikhalo was named the Golden Glove winner, while Francis Kahata was pronounced the winner in the Midfielder of the Year category.
