With that win, Gor Mahia are assured of at least Sh. 27 million as they make it to the group stages for the second time in a row.
New Stars have never made it to the round of 16 of the competition in their 8-year history, while Gor Mahia was seeking a second appearance on the trot.
Gor gave a brave fight in the match attended by a handful of New Stars fans. The hosts would blame themselves for wasting numerous scoring chances especially in the final quarter.
