Gor Mahia Youth FC and Beijing Raiders through to finals

Otieno Selassie scored twice to ensure that Gor Mahia Youth FC get through to the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom National finals. K’Ogalo edged out Slum Dwellers, scoring 3:0 in the boys’ finals for Nairobi region held at Stima Club Grounds, Nairobi.

In the girls’ regional finals, Beijing Raiders edged out Acakoro Ladies 5-0, to book themselves a ticket to Bukhungu. Pauline Atieno scored a brace in the high scoring final. Speaking at after the match, Beijing Raiders coach, Mark Okwiri, could not hide his joy:

“This is a great moment for our team and we actually cannot hide our joy. It is really a big step for us. The journey has been long and winding for us but now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The national finals will not be a walk in the park but we will give it our best.”

Both Beijing Raiders and K’ogallo Youth received a cash prize of Ksh. 200,000 for being regional champions.

Beijing Raiders will now face Arch Bishop Njenga who were crowned winners in the Western finals. K’ogallo Youth will face Al Hayat who are the North Eastern region winners.

The National finals will run from the 22nd to the 25th of March. The winner will in both categories will walk away with a cash prize of one million and a trip to the UK where they will be mentored by Victor Wanyama.
