Gospel Singer Bahati Faces Backlash For Smoking
By Steve Osaka
Controversial gospel Star Bahati has faced a backlash from netizens for posting a video while puffing a cigar.
The “Mama” Singer was hyping his first song “Fikra Za Bahati” from a yet to be released album which he terms as a cut above the rest.
“FIKRA ZA BAHATI ?TOMORROW AT 10AM⛔I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO WAIT FOR TH3 DATE 14:06:2021 THE #LOVELIKETHIS OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE!!! SO TOMORROW AT 10AM I WILL RELEASE THE FIRST SONG JUST TO SHOW YOU WHY THIS IS THE BEST ALBUM EVER!!!” Posted Bahati on his Instagram.
He further added that the song will be restricted to persons below the age of 18 years, a huge contrast to a gospel artist who is supposed to appeal to people of all ages.
Fellow gospel singer Ringtone was among the people who criticized Bahati for reportedly ‘misleading’ the flock.
Ringtone posted the video of Bahati with his cigar calling him a drug addict in his signature broken English.
Fans in disbelief registered their disappointment towards the Singer who rose to prominence by being true to the scriptures from his past releases such as “Barua” and “Mama”.
“Lost gospel society ???” wrote gainwithnic, “???? umekuwa mtu bladf**in sasa?” fired eugeneeugo.
It is not news to others who foresaw Bahati taking that route, recently he posted a photo of himself with Tanzania Singer Diamond Platinumz while they were in South Africa.
Bahati poured praises to the secular artist as his go to go to person in seeking advice.
