Kenyan gospel star Alex Apoko popularly known as Ringtone will spend the weekend behind bars after a Nairobi court denied him bail in a 50M land fraud case.
The Talanta hitmaker appeared in court on Thursday, May 15 before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate, Dolphin Alego facing allegations that on February 28, 2023 he conspired to fraudulently take ownership of the land.
The singer and his co-accused, Alfred Juma pleaded not guilty to charges of of conspiracy to defraud businesswoman, Teresia Adhiambo.

Additionally, the prosecution team opined that the pair falsely posed as the legitimate owners of the land located in Karen, Nairobi.
According to the prosecution team, Ringtone’s co-accused, Juma admitted in an affidavit that he resided on the piece of land for about two decades, a fact he understood was untrue.
Subsequently, Juma tendered a false report before the Environmental and Land Court in which he was the petitioner with Adhiambo and the Chief Land Registrar as the respondents.
Ringtone Was Issued With A Warrant Of Arrest After Absconding Multiple Court Sessions
Furthermore, Ringtone was issued with a warrant of arrest on May 7, 2025 after he absconded multiple court sessions.
His attorney had presented medical reports which were expunged due to credibility concerns.

In the meantime, Ringtone and his co-accused were remanded at the Industrial Area Prison until Monday, May 19 when their bail application will be heard.
