Government Asked to intervene in Eastleigh market stalemate
A section of Eastleigh leaders are now calling on the county government of Nairobi to move with speed and resolve the market stalemate between hawkers and shop owners which has sparked difference between the two warring groups.
Led by Eastleigh North Member of county Assembly Osman Ibrahim Adow, the leaders want the Planning department in the county to allocate hawkers with alternative selling places instead of inconveniencing other traders who are also paying tax to the county.
Adow blamed the county for taking too long to resolve the issue even after receiving complains from the warring groups.
Meanwhile, shop owners have maintained that they will continue with their demonstrations as planned next week to press for the evacuation of hawkers in front of their business premises.
