Nyayo Market traders who were affected by fire last week can now breathe a sigh of relief after the government started distributing Ksh. 9 Million donated by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The over 700 traders who had been registered the following day after the fire will each receive Ksh. 10,000 that will be given for the whole of this week.
Mildred Awuor who has already received the money has applauded the process saying that the money will help her construct a new stall.
“We want to thank president Uhuru for helping us during this difficult moment I was only asked my identification card and stall number and they gave me the money,” she told Ghetto Radio News.
Nyayo Market Secretary Peter Juma who has been coordinating the whole process has asked those who have not received the money to check with County commissioner’s office at Nyayo House saying that those who recorded their names were all accommodated.
“According to the County Commissioner we had the whole of this week to collect this money but we must also thank our leaders who we stood and helped us get this help from the president,” Juma said.
