Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has today refuted claims by the Nairobi Metropolitan Service boss Meja Badi that he is connected with cartels that frustrating the operations of the NMS saying the claims are not genuine.
Badi further alleged that there was also a cartel with underground tanks that is being used to create water shortage in the city and later sell to residents.
He was appearing before a Member of Parliament when he made the claims.
Sonkos’ spokesman Ben Mulwa describes the remarks as unfortunate saying Badi is the one not obeying the The Deed of Transfer.
‘‘Governor Sonko wonders why Badi has not taken time to investigate or report each account that money is being diverted to ,he says this money is being diverted to personal accounts why hasn’t he asked for the statements?” he posed.
“By insinuating that he is being frustrated by the governor, he is being inappropriate ,’’ he further stated.
Sonko has now called on Badi to desist from what he calls as cheap politics and concentrate on his functions as stated in the tranfer of deeds.
‘‘He is playing bad politics, let Badi tell Nairobians what he has done other than the pavements that the governor initiated. Ppeople are lamenting everywhere about garbage in the city he should tell us what NMS is doing,’’ Mulwa added.
