Governor Gladys Wanga of Homabay County has finally visited the family of Velma Ochieng, a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidate at Nyajanja Secondary school who died after delivery through a caesarian section at Homabay Refferal hospital to condole woth the family for the painful loss.
Wanga pledged support to the family terming the incident unfortunate.
She has instructed the county department of health and the curative services committee of the referral hospital’s board to carry out investigations into the sad incident before stern action is taken.
The family had earlier complained of negligence at the facility stating that Velma didn’t receive the urgent Care she needed and had to wait until it was too late to be rushed to the theatre.

The hospital management however, said that she had low blood pressure which led to multiple organ failure after the CS procedure.
She was but rushed to the theatre immediately since medics in charge were attending to two other patients.
“I have instructed the County Department of Health and the Curative Services Committee of the referral hospital’s board to separately conduct independent investigations as to the circumstances leading to the loss of Velma’s life,” Wanga said.
