Gregory Isaacs has set his eyes on a Grammy Award with his latest album compilation dubbed ‘Rebirth of The Cool Ruler’.

According to his producer, King Jammy of VP Records working with the iconic reggae singer was not only exciting but also rewarding.

Working with the younger generation

King Jammy further revealed that when he suggested to the younger artists the idea of working with Gregory Isaacs, they were completely receptive of the idea.

He added that he had worked on Gregory’s tracks for over two decades but listening to him he’s still evergreen.

This was also one of the reasons the younger artists were willing to work with the veteran singer.

The 75-year-old record producer continued that the new crop of artists music is a different kind of vibe compared to Gregory’s.

However, he maintained that their coming together was a testament that Gregory commands not only respect but also admiration.

Gregory’s newest album compilation is a fusion of contemporary sound of modern artists with Gregory’s timeless and clear-cut lyricism.

It’s a show of the past and present with a glimpse of the future.

The project boasts of 15 tracks off Gregory’s classical works.

Among the notable names earning a feature are Shaggy on the song ‘It Go So’, Bounty Killer on the song ‘Another Warning’, Sean Paul on the song ‘Another Try’ and ‘ Never Give Your Love’ with Junior Reid.

Other younger artists on the album are Aza Lineage, Ras Shiloh and Projexx -grandson of King Jammy.
