Saved from the street group from Githurai 45 is seeking support from wishers support on their initiative of preparing a feast for street children to celebrate the festive season.
The initiative has been organising feasts for street children for the last 10 years and the group has mainly been relying on money from car wash a project started by the group.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio News Edwin Njonjo head of Saved from The Street Initiative says that the main reason for preparing this feast is to be able to reach out to the street children and help them in terms of counseling and mentorship.
“In order for street children to listen to any counseling you must offer them something in terms of food at least to show them support,” said Njonjo.
Njonjo says that the main plan for the organisation is to purchase land to build a children’s home which can also work as a technical institution to equip the children with skills that can help them earn a living.
“Rehabilitation is not the only solution to help street children but also equipping them with skills to help them earn a living.” he said.
