Group leads Eastlands Pupils in Tree Planting Exercise

Chini ya Mti Group in conjunction with the county government of Nairobi launched a tree planting programme at Busara Primary School in Umoja  phase 2.

The initiative is aimed at increasing  tree cover on land in the county after planting the intended one million trees by the end of next year.

Brian Masheti,Chini Ya Mti’s Secretary stated that through the “plant a tree adopt a tree” method, each student gets to plant a tree and take care of it until it matures.

Nairobi Environment Committee vice chairperson who is also the area’s MCA, Joseph Ndonji said that he plans to have a weekly tree planting in schools in his ward and the entire county.

This is in addition to other environment cleaning activities ongoing in the area.
