A community based organization is planning to hold an initiation ceremony in Nairobi for over 20 street children whom they helped circumcise this year.
The 22 street children were circumcised in two groups in the month of April and October.
Grabriel Mwendwa of Social Solution Integration Programme says they engaged the help of doctors at the Kenyatta National Hospital who conducted the circumcisions.
“We conducted the circumcision in two groups at the KNH because we couldn’t do a traditional circumcision exercise for the kids because they are from different backgrounds,” stated Mwendwa.
“SSIP acted as a bridge between the doctors at KNH and these kids because most people don’t trust them easily,” he further explained.
Most of those circumcised are children between the age of seven and 12 years.
“The initiation ceremony will be sponsored by the business community in Markiti. They want to share blessings from their businesses with the street children,” said Mwendwa.
