A section of civil society groups will tomorrow hold demonstrations to protest against Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s impeachment saying the process was flawed by Nairobi County Assembly MCAs.
According to John Mark Ababu of Bunge la Wananchi and Laurence Oyugi of Concern Citizens, there was political interference in the impeachment.
‘‘We will tommorow hold a protest to show our displeasure with what took place at the assembly during the impeachment of Sonko, we cannot elect a governor with votes then you remove him viazoom,’’ Ababu said.
‘‘We will converge at the senate and petition them, they must save Sonko from zoom,as Kenyans we have never elected anyone through zoom and it should not be allowed,’’ Oyugi added.
Meanwhile the detectives have launched investigations into cyber fraud claims by the MCAs allied to Sonko.
Governor’s director of communication Elkana Jacobs says that Sonko’s legal team is in court to challenge the impeachment process.
‘‘Our lawyers led by Harrison Kinyanjui went back to court on Thursday last week to challenge the same and we are optimistic that justice shall prevail,’’ Elkana said.
