Guardiola has admitted that Palmer had been asking to leave for some time before he secured his transfer to Chelsea
Speaking to reporters Guardiola said : “‘He was asking for two seasons to leave and I said stay. He said he wanted to leave. What could we do? I said stay because Riyad [Mahrez] is gone but for two seasons he wanted to leave.”
The Manchester City boss showered palmer star with praise for his performances at Chelsea, adding: “Playing that level is exceptional. He’s an exceptional player.
