High Court blocks swearing in of Kananu as Nairobi Governor
The High Court of Kenya has blocked the swearing in of Nairobi’s Deputy Governor Anne Kananu as governor pending the hearing of a suit filed in today.
The Law Society of Kenya and the Kenya Human Rights Commission had moved to court to stop Kananu’s swearing in.
The High Court Judge has asked Acting Chief Justice to appoint a Bench to hear the matter.
Kananu was vetted, approved and sworn in as Deputy Governor for Nairobi County last week on Friday.
She had been appointed by impeached governor Mike Sonko.
