High School Student shot during protests in Ngara

A high school student has been hospitalized after she was shot on the waist during the Friday morning protests in Ngara.

According to witnesses the girl who was reportedly visiting her aunt in Ngara was caught in the middle of the running battles between the police and Ngara’s quarry road traders.

“During the scuffle I just saw the girl lying on the ground. I went to check and saw that she had a gun shot wound. I rushed her to the hospital immediately. The cop from Kamukunji known as Willy was supposedly aiming for someone else but accidentally shot her.” said Nelson Maina

The girl was rushed to Guru Nanak hospital where she is currently receiving treatment and is in a stable condition.

Maina who drove the girl to hospital reports that Pangani police station OCS met the girl at the hospital

On Friday traders in the area engaged police in running battles over what they termed as unfair allocation of the new Mwariro market in Kariokor.
