Higuain turns down huge contract, £52m Draxler update
AGENCIES-Gonzalo Higuain has turned down a huge contract offer to join the Chinese Super League revolution, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger has been eyeing the Napoli hitman, and it has been reported Olivier Giroud could be used as bait in an attempt to prise Higuain from Italy.
But even the carrot of a big contract offer from China wasn’t enough to sway Higuain.
Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol tweeted: “Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain turns down £800,000 a week to play for Hebei China Fortune.”
The Gunners have been given an unexpected boost in their pursuit of Wolfsburg star Julian Draxler. Wenger is keen to bolster his midfield, even though he has already signed Granit Xhaka, and German Draxler, who is valued at £52million, is a long-term target.
And with Wolfsburg struggling financially, a move to Arsenal could be on the cards for the highly-rated 22-ye “Clearly we have a lot to talk about,” the club’s sporting director Klaus Allofs told German paper ‘Bild’.
“There were a few issues that have emerged in the past.”
