House-help suffers serious injuries after employer throws her down from third floor

A house-help in Nairobi’s Kasarani area has suffered serious injuries after her employer threw her down from the third floor of her building.

Eva Namataka says that her employer threw her down after the child she was taking care of accidentally burnt her hands when she was cooking ugali.

Namataka says that before throwing her down, her employer had assaulted her and bit her whole body over the incident.

“I was cooking when the baby got burnt. I took the baby to the chemist and got her some medication,” she narrated.

“So today morning, she came to me came consumed with anger and started assaulting me with an iron rod. She them bit my neck before throwing me down from the third floor of the building,” narrated Namataka.

The 22 year old girl suffered injuries and was rushed to the hospital by a neighbour.

The neighbour told Ghetto radio news that the girl has been having issues with her employer adding that it is unfortunate that she ultimately threw her down seriously injuring her.

“I got her injured on the road, unable to stand so when I asked her what had happened, she said that her employer had assaulted her. We have already alerted the police and hope that justice will prevail,” he said.

The case has been reported at the Kasarani Police Station.
