How children saved kidnapped woman in Kayole
A 23 year old woman from Nairobi’s Eastleigh area who was kidnapped six days ago has been rescued by the police in Kayole.
Hafsa Abdulwahab was rescued alive from an empty two bedroomed house in Matopeni area.
Hafsa was spotted by children who were playing right outside the house that she had been put in.
She says that the kidnappers posed as water melon buyers based in Kayole.
“So I left Eastleigh and headed to Kayole to sell the water melons at Kayole Junction only to find the buyer alone in a room,” she narrated.
The kidnappers then squeezed her into a 500 Litre Water Tank and closed it with a lid.
They then transported her into the house where she was also tortured.
Police say that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Ksh. 1 Million from Hafsa’s family and friends.
Area residents says that the children heard her scream from the house and when they peeped, they saw her and alerted their parents who later alerted the police.
“Small children heard her scream for help so they called us and told us that there is a woman locked inside there, asking for water,” said an area resident.
A Mpesa Agent where the suspected kidnappers withdrew money to pay for the Ksh. 7,500 rent has been taken into custody by police for interrogation.
